We hope organizations are now able to find the solutions they need that we provide.

First things first.

If you are a noob and you use your computer as is, you definately should be reading this.

For the last year or so the toolbar has been the medium of choice for targeted marketing.

Most software companies have utilised toolbars as part of their initial set up configuration, thus automatically linking your web experience to them.

The result is you install software and realise you have a shrunken visual space as you open your browser. but lo and behold; you have a quick link to your email, a radio player,a goole or bing search are a nes ticker!

A tool bar is that thingy on top of your web page that sits there with a yahoo button, facebook button, rss button, home page button…you get the drift.

the concept behind this is targeted marketing, whereby the software solution provide gives a consumer a direct link to his portal ( generating hits , mindshare , and usage).

They have been put to several uses, and the more creative ones have made the concept viral, allowing end users to recreate and distribute their own toolbars for themselves, their businesses, networks or organisation.

A good example of this is Conduit.com

http://www.conduit.com

Yahoo, google, Microsoft among others are all companies that prepackage toolbars in their software unwrappers.

ENTER FIREFOX.

Firefox are at the forefront of tweaking and enhancing a free browsing experience.
the utilities and tools they offer are numerous but i beg to focus on one; the firefox persona.

http://www.getpersonas.com

Personas are easy to use web browser themes that let you select the look, feel and features of your firefox browsing experience.

As is the popular structure in development right now, where by the software company releases a technology and then develops a software development kit ( SDK ) to developpers who then go crazy with it and interpret it to their varied markets. But I digress and I will speak more on this in my post on Emerging Models in Emerging Markets.

The persona gives individuals, companies, organisations and networks the opportunity to create base level look, feel and content for the persona, which is then popularised through usage by communities.
A relatively fresh concept that comes with a firefox update, content and usage is still being developped.

I am thinking companies promoting toolbar usage should not ignore this, as it only serves to further heighten the toolbar experience.

This simple concept is bound to catch on and i am looking forward to where it will go… or will it just be overtaken by new technology? hmmm….

20 REASONS FOR THE WWW: TO NETWORK

  1. 2. To Network

A lot of what passes for business is simply nothing more than making connections with people. Every smart business person knows, it’s who you know. Passing out your business card is part of every good meeting and every business person can tell more than one story how a chance meeting turned into the big deal. Well, what if you could pass out your business card to thousands, maybe millions of potential clients and partners, saying this is what I do and if you are ever in need of my services, this is how you can reach me. You can, 24hours a day, inexpensively and simply, on the www.

MIND MAPPING

To bring our future to reality, we must envision it, draw the picture in our mind, see it, and live as if we were in it.

More and more people are realizing the powers of visualization.
tons of books have been written about this, acknowledging the power of visualization in achieving ones goals.
Mind maps are, by definition, is a graphical method of taking notes.

The visual basis of them helps one to distinguish words or ideas, often with colors and symbols.

They generally take a hierarchical or tree branch format, with ideas branching into their subsections.

Mind maps allow for greater creativity when recording ideas and information, as well as allowing the note-taker to associate words with visual representations.

Mind maps and concept maps are different in that mind maps focus on only one word or idea, whereas Concept maps connect multiple words or ideas.

Mindmeister is my pick on mind mapping software.
It combines online and offline capabilities, enabling you to work on your ideas and concepts on and off the web.
It has apps for the i-phone connecting you to their server while on the go too!
My favorite aspect of this though is the way that you can do this as a group, a bit like Google docs and Microsoft Sharepoint on how you can work collaboratively on a single idea or project.

There are other mind mapping tools out there of course, like mindjet, www.mindjet.com, and freemind, mindgenius but mindmeister is my pick.

Whats yours?
